A neurologist is a specialized physician who excels in treating disorders or afflictions concerning the central and peripheral nervous systems-the two major sub-divisions of the nervous system. To be specific, the neurologist investigates the general functioning of the nerves, spinal cord, and brain that are the core constituents of the nervous system on one hand. And on the other, a neurologist endeavors to offer treatment for ailments affecting the smooth functioning of the aforementioned organs including but not limited to stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease. However, unlike a neurosurgeon, a neurologist doesn’t carry out any surgical procedures.
